Eddie Murphy IS the daddy

COMEDIAN EDDIE MURPHY IS the father of SPICE GIRL MEL B'S baby.

Singer Mel received the news in LA from the Beverly Hills Clinic where Murphy had been ordered by a court to take a DNA test earlier this month.

The Shrek star has denied from day one that he was the father of Mel's second child ANGEL IRIS.

But the 46-year-old actor, who split with Scary Spice, 32, during her pregnancy, has insisted he would "do the right thing" if the tot was proved to be his.

Angel is his seventh child.

Last night a source close to Mel said: "It is such a relief that this is finally over.

"Mel has known all along that Eddie is the father and can't believe it has taken a paternity test to prove it.

"She is delighted the truth is out there now and she can get back to concentrating on being a mum."

Mel, who will appear with the Spice Girls to announce a reunion tour next Friday, fell pregnant weeks after meeting the Beverly Hills Cop star.

But Murphy dumped her on Dutch TV last December and said he wanted a paternity test.

At the time, Mel said: "There is absolutely no question Eddie is the father."

A copy of the birth certificate - showing a blank father section - emerged the day after Murphy gave his court-ordered DNA sample earlier this month.

He should just be forced to realize that he's a middle-aged man and has no excuse to run away from a pregnant woman and ask for a DNA test. 20 years ago this would be understandable but now he should just grow up.
